A new piece of art stands out adjacent to the Tees in Middlehaven in Middlesbrough. The giant work created by Anish Kapoor is visible from all sorts of places as you travel around Teesside. Until today I had looked from a distance, and I have to admit I looked somewhat askance at the giant black steel oval shapes which you see from a distance.
Today all has changed for me - getting up close and personal reveals a structure which changed in shape and feel as I moved around in and underneath it. It was sunny and quiet - for most of the time I was on my own enjoying the visual stimulus (this would not have been true if it were a Middlesbrough FC home match day - the Riverside stadium is very close)!
So today I have loaded the first view that visitors get when approaching from the MFC side - it sets the scene and places the structure with other landmarks, the Transporter Bridge, the Middlehaven clock tower and the Able lifting beam. Over the next few days I will endeavour to show with more images the many different aspects and features of this landmark. I hope that you will follow the adventure!
Have a good weekend!
