This a nice scene with lots of interesting detail. In my crop, I removed the railings and tried to emphasis the reflections and the contrast between the different types of building. I also brightened it a little, as I think it may be a tad underexposed. You are certainly finding worthwhile scenes to photograph. I think you might find it rewarding to pick out details and parts of scenes to photograph a bit more. Ask yourself, exactly what it is that interests you about something and see if you can focus in on that. You may need to crop after shooting to fully get the effect. Great photographers will often suggest 'previsualising' the shot - thinking what it is going to look like when you print it out.

Back to my home town - Liverpool a great city. The Albert Dock provides us with many super pictures, I have taken loads there myself as I am sure you are aware. This is a very good record shot of the old warehouses and I think the chain barrier gives the feeling of the opposite side (where you are standing) rather than the viewer trying to imagine where you took it from.
This is now a marina with lots of interesting ships, I wish I was able to walk around looking for shots but getting too far away from my car is a problem. I was the other side of the warehouses shown a few weeks ago dining at Gusto's. (Expensive place).
I don't think your settings are optimum here John, rather than use f4.8 I would have selected f8 for better DoF and also improved resolution with a shutter speed of around 1/250 sec. I dont understand your EXIF, your lens is shown as 36mm - 290mm but the focal length used is given as 6.4mm. but whatever, judging by the result you are not on a 'long setting' so the shutter speed I have suggested will be fine.
Keep Liverpool on the map John, I am enjoying your pictures.

Frank
