Yesterday was the final day of the Queen's Commonwealth Games 2014 Baton Relay and we had a chance to view the event as the relay passed through Pollok Country Park on the south (dark....) side of Glasgow. The relay stopped outside the entrance to the Burrell Collection and that is where I managed to capture these images.
Yesterday was the 287th. day of the Relay and the baton had been carried by tens of thousands of bearers across 70 nations and territories of the Commonwealth.
The opening ceremony of the Games takes place at Celtic Park later this evening. Within the baton is a message from the Queen.......as yet, only she knows what it says, but all will be revealed during the opening ceremony.
V 1: the crowd awaiting the arrival of the baton.
V 2: first sight of the baton and it's bearer.
V 3: the bearer sitting on a cart and holding both baton and reins of the two Clydesdale horses.
V 4: close up of bearer and baton.
My thanks to all who commented on Selphie........I had no idea what was meant by the reference of two members to my being a West Ham fan until I Googled it and found that a favourite song for the fans is I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles.
