Morning light illuminates the bothy at Dubbs Quarry in the Lake District. Our final destination before turning back was the top of Haystacks, sitting in the shadows here.
I need to getinto the hills properly again! Lovely shot
Thanks Rob... Hope you do get up the hill soon.

Lovely shot !!!!
One of my favorite walks in the LD !!.....though it's beyond my knackered old limbs these days, it's flat valleys
for this old cretin !!!!!
Quote: One of my favorite walks in the LD !!
.. I have not done much of the higher walking myself, but of all the higher walks I have done, I have to say I agree its beautiful up here, so much to look at and take photos of (of course!) that it's top of my list too..
...as for knackered old limbs.. well that would describe me and the Rug! haha! But stubborn-ness about wanting to get the shots pushed us up there
Good on yer !!!!!!!!!
An image of both beauty and wonderment. One can only imagine the hardship of living in such and alien and desolate environment
I'd love to be up there, just not sure about the process of getting there. Anybody got a helicopter?
Wonderful photo, Jeanie. Dramatic light and shadow, and intriguing foreground interest too.
Lovely light and a cracking sky to boot. I always wanted to live somewhere like this in the end I did for a year and half that was more than enough for me , went back to living in the real world left the woolie four legged and now the two legged ones answer back lol
Thanks Nathan, Doug and John.
Doug... we shall have to organise that helicopter...will be worth it lol!
John.. sounds intriguing.. and wherever you did it, at least you did, and have the experience !
Great PoV, the huts are dominated by their surroundings, especially the dark hillside. Some lovely light and shadow creating high contrast. Looks like a good walk!
I only wish like Niknut, I could climb the hills, but my knees won't allow it. Nice composition Jeanie, was this part of a old slate mine? James
Cheers Al (belatedly!!) and James. Yes it is part of the old slate mine, and yes Al it's a lovely walk I want to do again
