here's the inside passageway of an old railway carriage on the right you have the sliding doors to the seating compartments , not sure how many they seated possibly 8 or 10 I'm not sure , on the left you see the bit of leather strap hanging down , that was used to open and shut the window by lowering and lifting it , not sure but at one time car windows used the same idea , no electric switch in them days Smile

A great capture Gwynn, reminds me of the interior of The Orient Express my husband and I were fortunate to go on between Venice and Paris in September, there is nothing prettier than the old trains of yesteryear.

A real quality shot, Gwynn. I am very familiar with this kind of carriages with those windows that were to be opened and shot using those leather belts with some effort.
