Yey ! Really Chuft EC and POTW. Thanks Pete and EPZ ! Especially sweet because this trip to China was quite testing with the rain pouring down most mornings on the Li River ( 1st week)with me trying to set my tripod up around 6 in the morning with the fishermans boat moving back and forth on the river. The second week was slightly different with me moving to a rural village ( Wu's Village) around 5 hours from Yangshuo. However the mozzies loved me here, and was bitten many times and I felt like a zombie walking around cos I felt quite ill. Anyway all good! Regards Simon GrinGrinGrin

Hi Darren, I used a 28-70mm Nikon Lens..but probably captured this around 50mm or standard lens focal length. The fisherman was around 5 feet from me.

This must have been taken in Guilin China where the fishermen use the Cormorants
to catch the fish, there necks have a string around there throats to stop them from
swallowing the fish but they do get fed at the end of the day, I was there some years
ago and wish an image like this was possible, wonderful photo, captures the moment
perfectly, to take a photo like this doe's not come around very often, well done, look
forward to seeing more of your Images.
Redadmiral

These images of the fishermen are stunning you really should be going professional. Is it possible to buy any of these photographs?

...I don't understand how this amazing picture can earn POTW but not be "Highly Commended".

If it's the given weeks best picture and I'm sure it is then surely it follows that it warrants a "Highly Commended" too.

.....c'mon Pete...get it right Smile

....Mike

Amazing photograph, you have captured a wonderful moment, the lantern shows it is still very early but have still managed to get the limestone karsts in the background and of course the cormorant. Have been there but missed this guy!
