the sharpness, colour and composition is staggering - love the bokeh background - love everything about it, you have a winner here. Click
thanks everyone, glad you like him.
Mike, the main clean up was the background but there was one or two flys around his eyes that had to go and a few on his body.
a little sharpening here and there and adjust colour.
hope that helps.

I feel the same as mikeyc71, this is a great image but it appears to have been way over-sharpened giving a very artificial look. The softening of the background has been beautifully done.
Steve
You did a super job on this deer, he's sharp as a tack and nicely exposed. If I could offer you a tip about the backrgound tho, I notice you've got a bit of a halo around the deer. Sometimes desirable, sometimes not (I guess it depends on preference).. to avoid it, you make a mask of your selection (contract it about 2pix and feather it inside/out by about 3pix - fine tune depending on how accurate your selection marching ants are) before you apply the blur to the mask.
great shot, cheers
thanks everyone for your votes and comments.
looking at the image in the plain light of day i can see what your saying about the sharpening,
i think ive over done it a bit in places.
if i remember, i think i was struggling with harsh sunlight on the day which also kept blowing the whites out.
hope to get back over there this weekend and have another go at this chap.
