Carpenter bees simply adore sunflowers, I couldn't resist trying to capture them as they were flying in to feed from this huge flower head. As this sunflower stands over 7' tall, I had to do a balancing act on a chair, trying to get level with the head of the flower.

A rather superb set of photographs depicting this hard working Carpenter Bee going about his business around these rather stunning Sunflowers. Beautiful natural colour, and rather nice detail. Version 1 is the outright winner in my eyes this morning.

Regards Nathan

I do not normally pick a version to make a comment on as we do not enter our work to compete against our selves.

But I must break my own rules as I have fallen for V4.

All winners anyway.

Stunning set again Carol, do you know that the wings on bees are so small compared to the size of their bodies that it should be impossible to fly, the problem being no one told the bees, V1 for me.

Kindest regards.

Trev.

Very eye cathing with the yellow of the sunflower contrasting against that lovely blue sky, and to catch the bee in mid-flight like that - and sharp - is amazing Wink

I love carpenter bees! We have a couple of resident ones who stuff themselves into the thunbergias for breakfast. The sunflower in these images are already awesome...but the carpenter bee buzzing around is some serious icing, Carol Grin
