Firstly, these are machines from very different era's.

Secondly, this Hawk is close to the end of it's service life and is soon going to be mothballed at Shawbury where it will be cannibalised for parts, whilst the Spitfire will be lovingly tended for many years to come.

Finally, the Spit was going quite fast and the Hawk going very slowly to stay in formation.

So that explains the title Smile

They did a nice formation display together. This is about a quarter of the frame at 300mm.

I'll load the original for comparison as V2.

Drat! I pressed the shift button when I dropped the plane layer into the sky, which explains the taller aircraft in the tarted up version Sad

It was a different image shot earlier on the same day. I cut the planes out as a layer and plopped the sky behind them. The hard bit was getting the cockpit glass to look OK.
