My very good friend Ron (Maiwand) striking a test pose for me yesterday afternoon in my new studio. Tricked into testing the lighting and a great model and full of character which I have come to know so well over the years. Thanks Ron for being a good supportive friend and hope you like this one.

Lovely to see Ron 'in person'. Very nice lighting Richard.

What a stunning image, love the whole finish to this image, however I am not quite sure about the black colourama, as you have lost some detail further down in the image. One option would be to add directed light to his shoes, but this would involve taking several different light reading in order to get a more balanced image. Another would be to change the colour of your colourama to White, or bounce some light back into the image. This could be done quite simply with a large piece of white card, or a fancy pop-up reflector. Try STROBOX which is an online lighting assistant, which has helped me out greatly in the past.
Regards Nathan
P.S. Please don't take my criticism to heart, I certainly don't known everything, and I a constantly learning via other members of EPZ.

OMG fancy waking up to our Ron here like this today, how about a pose in his cosy that would be a shock heheh![]()

Looks like you are onto a winner with that studio. This really is a wonderful portrait.
Perfection for sure.
Lovely full length.......I will agree with NDODS about needing more light on the feet, the feet tend to disappear and they look to be lovely shiny shoes...........![]()

I personally like the black BG, the darker the BG the better the subject stands out........IMHO.....now the studio is up and running you can experiment to your hearts delight...that's the fun part..........hope you enjoy your studio and if this is your first attempt at studio lighting there will be no stopping you.........![]()

Nicely done Richard.... I think the lighting is right, however reckon the bright sweatshirt doesn't help the overall effect, a darker top would have given more texture and shadow to the image in keeping with the feet and head
Looking good Ron ![]()

An excellent portrait of this well known epz character Richard, congratulations on the HC award. Ron is a good sport posing for you
Oh my, What a handsome fella, hello, Ron, lol, a lovely shot
Well I personally think this is a great image Richard I like the lighting very much - looks like you have taken to it like a duck to water. What luck you had the services of such an excellent model - and for free too. Bet he charges the earth for photoshoots in FHM, GQ etc!!!
Good to put a face to one of my loyalest supporters here on EPZ - thank you! Lou
