My contribution for Silly Sunday.
Scarecrow Festivals are held in a number of towns and villages across the UK and are a fun way to involve the community and provide stimulus to local tourism. It was a grand annual event when I lived on Hayling Island so I thought I'd show you a few of the amusing entries.
To help find the hundreds of stuffed characters, a special Scarecrow Trail is created for visitors to try and spot all the creations made by the Islanders.
There are awards for the best scarecrows in a number of categories, and locals make the scarecrows for display in gardens, rooftops, shops and even at the local police station.
Inevitably, some get vandalised, which is very sad.
V1: a couple gardening.
V2: drunk in a hammock.
V3: children escaping from a nursery school.
V4: girl climbing a wall.

Pamela.

These are great fun - wish we had something like this where I live. Really like that you seem to have been standing very close to the subject, and used a wider angle to make your capture - going to try this technique first chance.

Marvellous, imaginative scenarios, Pamela...what an amusing hoot...(gawd, luv a duck, how very upper class that sounded). It's great that people are inspired to do this kind of entertaining artwork.

All of a sudden Scarecrow festivals are popping up all over the place - and a jolly good thing, too. A new form of folk art, community participation and (as in V2) community spirit Wink
These are excellent photographs, too!
