Found this today in a backup of RAW files Id forgotten I had... Monty sadly passed away in 2011. One thing that I love so much about photography is the ability to essentially bestow immortality.

Couple of simple changes in photoshop, created a new layer and changed the top layer to b&w. The backgroud colour was kept as to retain the colour of the eyes. Gave the eyes an additional boost with an additional layer where I coloured the eyes a brighter yellow and dropped the opacity down to about 16%

When I looked at Monty's left eye, it reminded me of the eye of Sauron in the film Lord of The Rings.. hence the title

I hadn't realised it was mono and colour-popped. I thought it was a British Shorthair Blue and that was the true blue (Grey for those who dont kow about pedigree blue cats).
Excellent shot, sharp in the leading eye

Steven.. it is actually a British Shorthair Blue. The difference is actually quite minimal as far as the fur colour goes, but the background colour didnt seem to sit right hence why I took the decision to mono everything except the eye
Having said that.. my other picture of Monty seems to sit okay with the background colour
