Walking along Low Petergate we came across the Magic Ball Man and were fascinated by the way he appeared to make the crystal ball levitate - especially in V3. We had asked before shooting if he minded being photographed and he kindly agreed. In V1, which was actually the last image I took, he held the ball out towards us to capture it in close-up. Personally, I prefer Moira's version, 'Yesterday in York', as she as captured his face alongside the reflection in the ball.

Super images here Trev - especially V1 - all well captured!
Carol
Hi Trev
Great set of images V1 is excellent, it is an art to capture people on the street, not fussy on magicians since I went to a show with Her who must be obeyed, the magician placed her in a box and she vanished, and then the idiot made her re-appear.
Regards
Trev.
Good collection of images giving a pictorial story. v1 strongest by far and well captured.
Dave
Excellent series. Love the concentration on his face
I've got one very similar to this, it will go up some time. I also have some head and shoulders shots - but nothing full length, and do you know, I never even noticed the sign and stand with his name. V3 is amazing, I missed that shot, I was so entranced - I have no idea how he did that!
Back to V1 - that was the moment, and you nailed it! You obviously got closer in on the subject than I did, the bokeh from his hat is like a firework exploding.
I was in a hurry to get a shot ready for uploading after a fantastic day, and I didn't spend as long on the image as I should have done. I've since realised that some careful dodging (highlights) and burning (midtones and shadows) brings out the brightness in the ball's refracted images. I do wish Mods were enabled...
Once that's done, he also makes very good material for b&w conversion.

I'm envious of this set, Trev. I captured a terrific composition from across the street but unfortunately was bending the Baby too far and the focus on the subject was unacceptable. I hardly binned anything from the day but unfortunately the very last two have been consigned to electronic purgatory ![]()
V3 has to be the star of this excellent set but all are very good. In V1 the inverted face is right where you would expect to find a normal head, which is a bit of magic in itself!

Bill
Super shots of the Magic Ball Man Trevor.
Lovely processing as usual.
Got to be V1 as Fav. It’s awesome. ![]()

Magical, Trev. A wonderful set. The upside down head in v1 is a real smile raiser.
All in all, it seems you organised a very successful and enjoyable trip, and we can only hope York survives!

Excellent set Trev and one of the highlights of an excellent day - thank you again for that. I have a set featuring this guy too that I will hold off on posting lest people get bored with him.
Great set
V4 is my favourite
I saw this chappie a few times earlier than you saw him ... and he was just sittting on the pavement
I wondered what he was going to do .
So thankyou for putting them up
Brilliant...Like to see it upside down Trev......John
I had also have a full set of about 8 - 10 shots. All mine are slightly closer in but not as close as your ver.1 which you have captured superbly. I am also same as Moira and don't remember seeing his sign nor indeed his Raster type hair . Doubt I will be posting any of mine . You and Moira have these nailed Trev....Phil
