I have previously uploaded this in colour with a band of green grass running right through the middle of the shot. I think this fits the theme better as the eye is not drawn away from the shadow to the colour. Anything in the playground has symmetry, when taken in this direction mid morning. The beauty of this was that the gate was open as children were working in the park with their teacher.
I get so excited when I see special shadows and its the reason why I try to always carry a camera with me
Have a good weekend - I'm off to see the jam on my stall at the Craft Fair ![]()

O I'm liking that shadow Helen brings the whole shot life, wonderful comp with the point of the shadow taking me into the shot, plus the two bench supports on each side of the image giving good balance to a very well taken image.
John
Now this is a strong shadow ! Bold, unapologetic and in your face, seducing you with it's beauty
Excellent photo Helen ! We were going to go to our Youngberrie festival this morning but it has been cancelled due to the civil unrest in town - the ANC lost control of our town and now they intimidate by looting, burning and stealing to try and get it back - Africa style. We have been kept awake with gunfire and other loud noises combined with shouting and drone singing .
The wide-angle perspective makes a wonderful exaggerated shape of the shadow, Helen.
Dave
The shadows gate and fence make a great abstract Helen, first class capture!

Trev.
Especially felicitous use of b&w for this precise image. Both the near-symmetry and the shadow detail are particularly striking.
Bill
Ah yes, I remember it well...
I prefer b&w. Harder, darker, colder. Oh dear, what does that say about me??
Moira
Definitely prefer this mono version, Helen - and again, well timed to get the shadows so perfectly positioned ![]()

Superb shot, great composition, really works well as a mono
Hugh
The strength of those gates is emphasised by the b&w conversion which adds harshness and an uncompromising feel.

The symmetry is lovely here Helen and this works particularly in mono.
