I was tempted to call this Basket cases... Just a bit of fun – a sequence from Hanging Basket Day at the Community Allotment.
V1 is a slight aberration, being taken at 18mm; V2 to V5 were all taken at 16mm. The ladies knew that I was at work but thought that I was just photographing their hands. I love it when that happens...
V6 - the finished product; this is what they thought I was doing all along.
V7 – a couple more satisfied customers. I don't like doing posed shots but needed this for the town's Northumbia in Bloom portfolio.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Absconding horticulture and the way to keep it in check. A really good series indeed.
PS, even the thumbnail shouted "Brilliant!!"

Thanks folks, and a Happy Silly Sunday to you.
What the experts don't tell you here is that the birds will nick your moss for nest-building. House sparrows are currently playing havoc with mine...

A good lesson there then Moira,
like also the fact one 'loves' to get her hands dirty' and the other...Oh No!
Good reportage and look forward to the summer flowers

Extremely satisfying work, with a lovely result - I would be the one without gardening gloves - and later the nail scrubber Wink

Interesting comments about gloves/dirty hands. Everyone was supposed to wear gloves (Elf 'n' Safety...) but Jo on the left was running the show and cheerfully ignored the rules.

A great set of documentary photos. I am glad you caught the bigger picture and the body language between the people.
Sometimes it's great to get in close, but there are times like in these where stepping back is more beneficial.
Excellent.

The Petunia That Got Away reminds me of a Two Ronnies sketch series, à la The Worm That Turned or The Phantom Raspberry Blower of Old London Town.
"Only your hands". Crafty way to get the photos taken, Moira, I must remember that one.
Certainly makes for relaxed, natural images where candids are not possible.

And they are actually working with not so much standing around and gossiping.

Lovely series of "how to build up a hanging basket". Nice and bright! I have several pairs of gloves but I can never work with them, safety rules won't work with those delicate roots with me.

A great series. V1 tells a story all by itself. In spite of the posing, V7 captures the fun these two experienced.

An excellent set of images of your green fingered friends hard at work making these hanging baskets. There seems to be much more community spirit up North where people muck in and get involved compared with down here in the South
