I decide to brave "broken Lens Beach" this morning and attempt to bond with my 18 - 55 kit lens.

So this is Boscombe Pier this morning at about 6.40 this morning. I really wanted to try and capture the lights and think I've just about managed it.

I'd be interested in your thoughts...

Thanks to everyone that clicked or commented on yesterdays upload, I'm astounded at the response it got thanks... and particularly to Walter (Gajewski) for his UA and Al (almiles) for his suggestions on how it could be improved.

Splendid (I am not familiar with that lens, seems to make good images here!)

This might also like a square crop graphics wise!

Mark, just think if you had stayed in and not gone out we all would have missed this lovely image. And if I may say great tone and lighting.....mate. Back to basics but just goes to show with talent you can produce stunning images............no matter what the kit.

Mark, a very nice low light shot. I love that warm, rich blue of the early morning sky.

Well done, as others have said, it just goes to show first and foremost you need a good eye for photography to make sucessful images, not great kit! You've caught the lights well and just a tiny bit of lens flare coming over the water. I might be tempted to push the contrast in the FG water's edge because it is quite plain otherwise but there does look to be texture there that could be brought out with selective curves adjustments.
