Crete consists of four prefectures, Chania, Rethymnon, Heraklion and Lasithi, these two rather poor images show my home city, Rethymnon. To the left you can see the Venetian Fortezza, in in the centre is the harbour. To the right is the 18km stretch of golden sands.

the letter box crop suits this image and also shows how built up the area is
Have to go with V2 Carol, excellent captures! Have you ever taken a trip across to Albania? I have been there 7 times driving trucks with mercy loads, it is 50 years behind the rest of us, so virtually still very much unspoiled from modern development, a photographers paradise.

Excellent shots, Carol, and I love the light and shadow play in V1. Check out the shadowy bit in the sea in the distance to the left and the shadowy bit on the land to the right...nice sorta balance.
And I love those clouds in V2!

Two lovely panoramas from your beautiful island... it takes me back a couple of years to a wonderful holiday there.
For any one thinking of visiting Crete take the chance to read Victoria Hislop's book The Island, it tells the story of Spinalonga Crete's leper colony.
