The Prisoner's Jacket lays over the trench of the "Queen's Own" Royal West Kent Regiment
Taken at the War & Peace Show, I just really liked the colours and textures here.
The Q O R W K R WW1 display won first prize, it really was well deserved and was also my favourite display on the living history field - more to come from here soon!
Thanks as always for your time, your thoughts/comments are very welcome.
Regards - Sarah J x

My son in-law came back from Afghanistan after his second term in that hell hole! his best friend was killed at his side! which shattered his dreams of being a hero! so I wrote the following being an ex soldier myself: A zip of a bullet above his head; his best friend at his side he lay there dead, Pinned down by a sniper far away, there was nothing to do but hope and prey.
He started to shake and felt quite sick, if it's my turn next?, God make it quick, a sudden crack he to was gone, it happened daily on the Somme. Many a lad died like a man! it's happening in Irag and Afghanistan, It's the Politicians that bring us hell, to sell arms their coffers to swell.
they care not a jot for the like of you or I, we will set you free is what they cry, while sitting safely in Parliament! war is what they implement, so join with me in this soldiers Lament.

Thanks all!
Leon - strong, thoughtful, emotive, sensitive and heartbreaking words.
My thoughts are with you and your son and to all those who were and are still serving!
The Q O R W K R are a living history, rather than a battle re-enactment group and their focus is on education and research. Their members dress in period uniforms and equipment in order to give the most accurate portrayal of activities of the time.
They attend events to provide displays of uniform and equipment and to also assist people who wish to find out more about their relatives who fought during the Great War or other related research.

Thanks all, appreciated.
Jeff, there isn't really a story. This is a close-up crop of the coat that was just thrown down by one of the re-enactors. I just liked the colours and textures, however the more I look at it the more I question and imagine - open to your own interpretation I suppose..

Great shot Sarah, and reminds me of a Song I wrote back in my Teens, called 'Who's Was That Jacket That You're Wearing'? I think the verse that best suits your image, is this one.
Who's was that Jacket that you're wearing ?
was it part of a patriotic scene ?
It's a Blue'ish Brownish Greyish colour,
Could it have been Green ?
Who's was that Jacket that you're wearing?
Did you find it in an Anique Store
Or in a Jumble sale,
Or in the Attic of a House built long ago?
If I tried it on and liked it,
And offered then to buy it,
Could you find it in your Heart
To let it go?
Yes I know, I've always been shot away ![]()
All the best to you Sarah,

This just shows you how simple, yet how effective an object can be when someone has the imagination to see what it can become. As you say, Sarah, it's all about the colour and texture contrasts. A good un.

Superb detail and colour, all down to your superb processing Sarah,
Geoff.
