i think you show the intensity and concentration of the race well, but I feel the paper curl is totally distracting. I'd agee from looking at the original that what was in the corner was also distracting. It'd be nearly impossible IMO to clone anything in there convincingly, so I think the best option would be to just crop from the left. Yes, you'd lose one of the contorted faces, but there's enough going on in the other ones that the loss could be sustained

I prefer the closer crop, but I personally don't like the blue mono treatment, the highlights have blown, it's also a shame that the girl in front is not in sharp focus. I also don't like the curled paper effect.
