Some people have been mentioning I could try different angles, although I have in the past, and some shots are already in my portfolio here's 2 variations.
V1 was taken from the outside of the oval looking down the back straight. I choose f/2.8 to isolate Joe Screen, the lead rider.
V2 was taken again from the outside and shows the same rider, in almost exactly the same position as yesterdays shot (ie 1st/2nd bend).
For both shots I have slightly cropped, done lights and levels, a little dodging and burning and used the Mann sharpening technique. I have done no cloning. nor would I in a sports shot like this.
I'm enjoying the continued feedback, so on you go, what about this one?
Joe is always good value for an action shot. He's now 38, and describes himself as 'big boned'. He's the former world under 21 speedway champion, and a cracking guy.

Hi again Al,
Well you've come up trumps this time, fantastic in my opinion and I don't nind saying I think I was right. Shot two is brilliant, the dirt flying and the feeling of really being there is strong. Both shots are different but are both very well done. The only slight critique I could give is with chopping off the heads of the riders in the background of image one but that is hardly here nor there.
Well done and a great big pat on the back.

No worries, I agree with you reagrding the bend and leaning away as i used to shoot superbikes but this angle is fantastic, you should approach the riders and offer your shots for sale.

I have an agreement with the track promotion not to use my shots commercially in exchange for access. There is an official photographer who has commercial rights.
However I am a fan and happily support the club and riders. Some shots are used in the programme, some by the riders and I use some in club competitions. Plus I've started getting shots used in a local paper to accompany reports
