Just returned from an excellent trip touring the WW1 battlefields of the Western Front. The Somme is now gently rolling fields but the carnage and destruction of 90 years ago is hard to forget when you see the many cemeteries dotted about the landscape. This is Mill Road cemetery, near Thiepval.

The big sky suits the image Dave. It's stark and thought provoking, although a splash of red poppy in the foreground would be very fitting.

I would love to go and see all this myself, a sort of tribute to the fallen hero's..

Gone but not forgotten..
I have nothing but admiration and utmost respect for those that was in the wars.

Lovely image David

This is an extraordinary shot, very sympathetically handled. I have been to similar places in Belgium, where one of my uncles is buried, and they are very moving places. An evocative capture David, well done.

Well seen and captured David. I like the way you have framed it with all of the detail across the bottom. I think you have handled this one with great respect and sensitivity. A very good image.
