A common male Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) in full mating colours. Taken in a field adjacent to our garden with the 500mm + 1.4x TC, 79.9m from subject, handheld, so the image is cropped in. He obviously knew I was there and was clocking me!

Always loved the colours on the Male pheasant. I often wonder why something so beautiful is hunted for game. Lovely shot Sylvia, something mesmorising about his stare.

excellent composition, the contrat beween the pheasant and the soft grass makes this a real winner
A fine shot of this handsome **** pheasant, the eye contact is exceptional. Clocking you eh Sylvia, that is a good one, was that pun intentional?!
