Thank you for viewing the larger version :o)

Taken in Bangkok at the site where they are constructing a museum, something that is a rarity in bangkok (a museum that is, not a construction site ;o).
workers are now 2 floors up, so working at the same level as skytrain commuters do their commuting. The commuters love to stop and have a closer look at how works are proceeding; the construction workers equally love to observe the thousands of commuters passing by. Soon they will be a floor higher up and it will be each to their own again.

Only worked on this in Picasa. Feel free to comment/critisize (yes, including that strange soft focus)

Thanks for stopping by

Quality capture! Wondering if I would have prefered it without the soft-focus thing though? (but you probably have a good reason for choosing it)

A fascinating and very well presented scene. I was going to suggest it might have been better if the workman hadn't appeared to be posing for the camera, but your description explains that he's watching the commuters passing by.

Well, he was watching that one funny white commuter taking photos of him ;o)

Tommy, I put the all sharp version up as a mod, but I'm afraid the smaller version makes it a bit hard to compare.

For once I can't think of anything negative to say :-(

Bags of detail, and I like the off-centre composition.

Dave.

Great pic Koen, been kind of busy just lately so sorry for the lack of comments or clicks. will catch up.

Maybe when the museum opens, they could make use of a few of your pics. I should imagine Bangkok is going through rappid change like most other places.

i really like this as a piece of reportage.

the diffused light (effect) works quite well, at least i like it, it plays well against the harsh industrial environment.

image is also provocative in a political sense, very thought arousing.

well done! ads :o)

Impressive work. This is a good industrial scene, made even better with the presence of the workman. I like this very much.

great industrial image. funny enough, i wonder if lightening the face would work, because it makes it a more personal picture i.e. of the worker, rather than the enviroment he is in.
IMO the dark face de-personalises the pic and focuses attention on the industry around the subject.

cheers

It is a timeless classic scene. As a kid growing up in San Francisco, I watched as one skyscraper after another went up. This reminds me of those days. Now downtown is extremely dense, like Hong Kong or New York. Fortunately geography restricts the amout of land available, so the built up area is only about 3 miles by 3 miles. But every building is over 20 stories, limited to 50 because of earthquakes and concerns about disappearing sunlight on the ground!

Thanks for putting up mods Koen. Think I like your first mod best, the picture needs some softening to keep the focus on the worker..And Paul lightening cream works well too

Have an RC! I love the lines, angles and "stuff" with the lone figure - although I just realized there's a small figure hurrying along...well spotted, interesting image.
