I'd been looking for this tree in Clyne Gardens for many months after a friend had uploaded the image to his portfolio.

I finally tracked it down near the childrens play area. It's called the Story Tree.

The number of times I've walked right past it during my many visits to the gardens is just unbelievable.

I don't know who carved the face into the side of the tree, but it looks strangely like an old man - perhaps one of Tolkein's Ents was the inspiration behind it.
Anybody know how it got there ? I'd be interested to know.
Hope you like the larger version.

Richard

Marvellous! I like how the face pretty much fills the frame.

It is a little eerie and would look great lit up at night! Sharp and crisp image.

Hi Richard, just seen this. You should have asked, I could have saved your shoe leather. Any way a great shot of him, it's a chain saw carving by Nansi Hemming you can read about it HERE .

Adrian.
