There a story to this. When Steven and I bought our first home, it was do derelict that it had a closing order on it - no electricity, gas, windows (hardly) floorboards and ceilings - we were not allowed (could not anyway) live in it and as we were now paying rent and the loan for the house, Steve used to work on it late into the summer evenings whilst I was at home with our two young children. One night he came home all of a dither - in the dark - and said he had found something in the upstairs chimney but could not make out what it was because it was too dark to see. He felt uneasy though and thought it might have been a rats' nest he had come across. The next morning, on the bedroom floor, along with all the straw and other gunk rats use, was this mummified rat. He still even has teeth! It must have fallen out of the chimney when Steve was oiking around. The limestone must have mummified it. Poor thing! We have kept it in a Clarkes shoe box ever since (well over 30 years) and today I found it hidden away and thought I would share him with you. Two different views. Don't have bad dreams! xx

Amazing Find and shots, I wonder how long ago it was living? Ann
Thank you for all your comments/votes. Funny thing is ..... I used to have a recurring dream about rats eating my feet... long before this chap came into our lives. He does have a use though. When visitors come to the house and sit around till 1.00a.m. and we want them to leave, we have been known to bring out ratty....they soon leave and leave us to zzzzz. lol. x
What a fasinating find and a good story to go with it. Nice shots too.

What a gruesome discovery, but I would have kept it too!!! Super images Sue!
