taken in Hungary in January. The water in the pond is kept free of ice by a thermal spring, so the kingfisher can fish throughout the year.

You have captured a lot of feather detail and around the great eye but feel it could be a lot better.
I know sometimes they do not stay around for long but if you had time you might have done a few adjustments to the settings......800 iso looks a bit much and I would go for a bit better f stop and put in some ex comp to try and get a bit of detail in the white cheek patch.All that would bring down the shutter speed but compromises have to be made sometimes.

But all that said I still like it.

Fair comments, Keith, if I ever get another chance of a Kingfisher close enough to photograph I will certainly bear your advise in mind. Thanks for a useful post. TedSmile
