I bought this watering can whilst in Edinburgh and had to wait a few weeks until it was brought down for me (no way was I taking that home on the train). Finally I thought it was time to include it in a photo!

Happily I managed to find the grid for the barn doors too which makes life a bit easier - I can manage without holding the diffuser between light and subject as well although it's a very handy way to cut back the light a bit on bits of a pic rather than the whole.

Another beautifully arranged still life, all the elements sitting well together: once again the lighting is excellent, as is the detail and the tones and textures of the various components.
Ronnie.

Really well put together still life. i love the way you have got complimentary colours all working together. The composition is very good. Is it the actual texture of the background or have you used a layer to create it ? either way I love it....Peter Grin

Thanks folks Smile

I did wonder if I could have done with a wee bit more light on the left hand garlic bulb? currently undecided.

Also slightly undecided about the texture. Yes it is a layer - I use a plain beige curtain fabric for the background and then lob textures on top. I used a heavier one than usual due to the bulk of the pic being quite dark but wonder now if it was a bit too heavy.

The colours and textures are really good and the lighting is well thought out and could easily have been through a window of an old building.

I don't think every element in a still life needs as much light as the other elements, especially not in a still life with a treatment like this one. I think it's a well balanced composition, with appropriate lighting, and it all works very well.

Great image.
I like the use of the broken pot to between the the other two pots to brake up the circles.

Thanks again everyone - and thank you Dave for your award Smile

I do love these mini pumpkins and will be very sad when they finally give up the ghost but I reckon I've got a few weeks before they go kaput. I guess it's feasible though to hollow them out, stuff them with paper or something and let them dry out - I might give that a go!

The garlic happily is keeping very well and doesn't pong at all - I've had it about a month and guess it will just slowly dry up - which is not a bad thing Smile
