Hi David, it's nice to see the foreground and trees blackened as this is after all a silhouette and thats how they should be. I feel you have not left enough room at the top of the frame, as the taller tree has no room to grow. Also a bit more room at the bottom, I know there is no interesting detail there but it would balance the image more. By cropping some of the left hand life the taller tree could be placed on the thirds line.
I have uploaded a mod, please excuse the top cloning as it is just to give you an idea of what I am trying to say.
I also added a gradient layer to add some colour, this is not a criticism of your image just me fiddling about ![]()
Well done
Trev
Welcome to Ephotozine David.
This is quite a nice first upload, and the silhouette concept works well. One of the challenges you have is to have the silhouette, while getting the sky close to normal, and in this its underexposed, - deliberately I understand. So, shooting without the sky in the shot will make it easier for you.
Trev has made some good points, and a very nice mod already.
I have uploaded 2 mods, - first is with the sky a little brighter (and more space at the top); and mod2 is converted to a toned mono.
Adding space to an image is about extending the canvas, and if you go to the technique forum and search for this you should find something to assist.
Enjoy the site,
regards
Willie
