A trio of Mig-29 shots for today.
The Mig-29 first flew in 1977 which makes it a relative newbie compared to its American equivalent the F-16.
To put it into context, this current front line fighter went into production the same time as the Mark 4 Cortina.
Saab used to claim their cars were inspired by the aircraft they produced (even though those had Volvo engines), but it seems that only car manufacturer to learn anything from the aviation industry is actually much more unlikely - Land Rover!
Mostly aluminium body work - check
Very little changed in the last 25 years - check
More than half of the examples produced still in regular service - check
So if you think aircraft are the epitome of cutting edge design and engineering and want a car that echoes their philosophy - buy a 1980's Land Rover Defender!
