Now that the daffodils have all must withered and gone from our garden, the next brightest unwelcome visitor is the lovely 'Dandelion'. Although I have got nothing personal against this little humble fellow, they are somewhat of a pain in the 'ask' no question to get. However after spending a morning in the bitter cold winds of yesterday I finally managed to get rid of these little yellow garden destroyers. I then decided capture a series of the dreaded yellow flower at different stages in the warmth of my kitchen studio. Clear one part is missing not only to prevent a balanced imaged, but to come back in weeks to come in its original form, more 'blooming' work.

I had the same nuisance in my garden, not good for my knees and backbone and I always miss one or two. Very clever and so nice!

I simply love your still life - very imaginative and well thought out. Love the reflections too! If I may be allowed to say (and I hope you don't mind) I wish the reflection of the tallest dandelion had a bit more head room. BUT I just love it anyway! Grin

Having never heard of this I looked it up and sure enough Wikipedia says
"Anecdotal reports and folk wisdom say children who handle dandelions can end up wetting the bed. Dandelions are reputed to be a potent diuretic. English folk names for the plant are "peebeds" and "pissabeds". In French dandelions are called pissenlit, which means "urinate in bed"; likewise "piscialletto", an Italian folkname, and "meacamas" in Spanish"
All that aside it makes a terrific image, and looking out of my window this morning I can see a strong yellow presence in my garden too !!!!

I have around 50 spare subjects if you need any more!
Great looking image with a classic, timeless quality. Only suggestion would be to try and give the reflection a bit more space at the bottom of the frame, other than that, perfect.

Very nicely thought shot Nathan. Well composed and like those reflections.
Now a tip - to get rid of dandelions without the back breaking work - either pour boiling water right onto them, or pour a little pile of table salt right in the middle of the leaves - no matter whether it is flowering - will still kill it. Works, I do it all the time now.

I think as much as you hate to admit it I think you have a secret admiration for these hardy weeds.
If you cut them there back in a day,if you poisin them they sem to survive that as well.My father in law would say you had to get them from the root.Oh the knees,,
Any way well thought out and presented, liking ther reflection's,

Thoroughly brilliant idea, Nathan, and so well exexuted.

I have to agree with AnnChown, though...pity about the reflections being incomplete. If you'd allowed more room at the bottom and made the pic a square crop, it would be even more awesome Smile
