Hi Kypros.

I am using this opportunity to suggest something beyond this very picture, I appreciate Focus_Man's time and effort but I think this image suffers more from perspective rather than the aperture settings, the colours and the concrete post.

What I find really distracting is the bottom quarter of the picture that includes the empty road, actually it features it quite prominently. On the specific occasion I would suggest you to crop it. What I imagine it happens next is that the train looks too tight in the frame.

So my suggestion is to visit the place again (I hope you can) and either stand lower on the slope, or on the road, having the concrete post on your back, (and somebody watching your back) lean on it if you want, and attempt to shoot the train while it is a bit further back. The mountains would keep the snow and I hope you find soon another day like this to repeat this shot. I think also because the train is long you could benefit from a 4:3 format (I think you have used 3:2 here) and the aperture settings Focus_Man suggested.

This is a very nice shot Kypros. Youve managed to get a lot of the train in the shot. This train is a cross Canada train with 3 panoramic viewing cars which you can see half way back. It has three locomotives, even though its a passenger train to cope with the mountain climbs. The side of the cutting for the line is the way it is since the 1800s.

The shot to me is suggesting itself that it should be a panoramic style crop. which removes a lot of the lower area, and it does benefit with some more space in front. Dont go back there, use Photoshop.

The exposure and contrast can easily be lifted, and with a little sharpening it looks quite good.

Ive added a border to enhance the pano effect in the mod.

Hope you find this helpful, and that you like the mod,

regards

Willie

This is a nice well composed image but just lacks a bit of punch - a touch under exposed I think. Brighten a touch and tweak the contrast up. Just clone out the half post, bottom right.
