There is something that I miss, but I don't know what...

It looks fine to me, I would however like to see a slightly bigger version.
What might be missing is people to fill the picture, walking towards the camera or across the image.
Like the B & W maybe a person in the shot is missing.
Shaks has some good points. You're allowed uploads of images up t0 600 pixels on the longest side, so you used only 2/3 of the allowed maximum for this image. It's easier to critique when you upload at maximum pixel size, so that would be something to keep in mind for future uploads.
I also agree with his/her comment about people in the image - they would have made it more interesting.
But there's really nothing basically wrong with the image, imho. And good to a shot like this.
Black-and-white is a good choice for an image like this. The first thing that takes my eye is the Lyon & Turnbull sign and offices, which is a shame because the rest of the image has good perspective and interest. So, rather than there being something missing, I think there is something intrusive. I feel that if you had got down low and used the road as a foreground feature, altering the point of view, you might have been able to avoid those offices and get a long low angle shot of North Lane. Use portrait format and make a feature of the old road. The other thing is that the sky is bland and the solution would be to either crop the top or add some sky. In my modifications, I re-sized the image to 600pixels, lightened, added some slight contrast and sharpened. My 2nd mod has the top cropped. My third mod has the same crop but also some extra road added to the bottom. My 4th mod has some sky added. My 5th mod has both sky and extra road added. These will hopefully give you ideas for future composition.
