Some giraffes taken during our trip to Zambia last month. These are 'Thornicroft's Giraffe, which are a sub-species only found in Zambia. They have dark body patches, lighter neck patches than the 'normal' giraffe and their markings don't extend beyond the knees, leaving the lower leg almost white. Beautiful, kind animals and very photogenic.

You definitely need portrait format with those long necksWinkWink.
What a marvellous experience being there to see these elegant creatures in their natural habitat yet manage to get close enough (even if at 400mm.) to capture such images.
V 1 clicks all the boxes for me, Vicky.
Ronnie.

Where did you stay? I honeymooned there 9 years ago but sadly with a rubbish camera and a rubbisher Wink computer which died and lost all my images. Enough of me though, this is a beautiful shot, hence the vote.

I nearly missed the birds on the neck! Lovely composition, Vicky, the bending neck puts the heads on a good diagonal.
