Still messing with stuff from my collection box.
Went a bit nuts with the texture layers on this one,an experiment but I kinda like it...especially the dark bits
Lit by my X-Ray viewing box, diffused with a piece of muslin.
F11 manual mode
7 images combined & tonemapped in Photomatix.
Raw files converted in C1.
Could be a rather long run of experiments but...hey ho..I like messing with the texture stuff
Thanks for taking the time to call in.

Lovely Janet...the checker board sets it off well.
I think the green bg and the dragonfly work a treat, a bit like rel dragon flying among the grasses.
A wonderfully rich and balanced piece of photographic experimentation Janet.
top notch work Janet
One word just springs to mind .... Quality. Reminds me a lot of the work of Mikel Arrizabalaga. The richness of tones, that soft glow associated with photomatix, I love everything about it.
At first view I was unsure about the softness of the box, but it just sets off the watch & broach which are pin sharp.
Many thanks for the GEA Nick, that means a lot to me.
The box started off sharp but looked wrong somehow,I needed to push it away from the watch & Dragonfly,so I left lots of texture over it to soften it a tad.
Off to google Mikel thingy now
Quality Janet. Love this series of images

You won't be disappointed. At least by the still life's - some of his other stuff is a bit OTT for my likings.
Janet the softness is what makes the image - contrasts. Light / Shadow, Sharp / Soft etc too many look for everything pin sharp all the time.
What I didn't say is I have a lot of respect for anyone that does still lifes well - I've tried and failed miserably - I just don't have the patience - and few have the ability to bring them alive.. Tho ironically I wasted half the morning on eBay looking for a couple of things for a project.

No I wasn't Nick...he has a fantastic collection of things,I wish some of them were in my box !
Keep going with the still life stuff Nick, when it works it's great, although I have had many failures ! 'tis fun trying. The light is so important as that is the thing that brings it to life,it's difficult to try & give objects form if the lighting is all wrong ...my learning curve is still on the upward slope.
Thankyou for your comments & votes everyone, much appreciated.
A very nice still life, like the processing Geoff.
A superb still ife, Janet, excellent composition and presentation. Carol
WORKS VERY WELL INDEED
LIKE THE TONES IN THIS
Lovely still life - great work !
This makes a very pleasing image Janet and no wonder you get the GEA for it. Wish I had the same PS skills
Cracking image Janet - a lovely set up and beautiful light - that blue looks so good - love the brooch ! ( think that's what it is)
Brian it's actually a hairclip...but I will forgive you
Mike,it took me a while to get going with the texture stuff, lots of trial & error ( much more of the latter ) & I'm still experimenting...lots to learn yet I feel.
Doing a great job imo its superb work.
Wonderful tones and colors, Patti
Many thanks for the HC Pete
