Time lines.

This image was taken yesterday whilst out and about with the family collecting fossils from the cliff and shells from the beach.
The cliffs at Old Hunstanton are well know for there fossils. The exposed cliff face produces many fossils, some lay just where they fall others need to be found .

The white top part (Ferriby Chalk Formation) of the cliff dates back to 99 million years ago (late cretaceous period/ Cenoamian stage).

The next layer the darker red line (Hunstanton Formation) dates back to arouind 101 millioin years ago (Early Cretaceous Period/ Albian stage).

The next layer the lighter red (Carstone Formation) dates bate to around 108 million years ago ( Early Cretaceous Period/ Albian stage)
