This image was taken with a purpose in mind a large white wall in a very minimalist almost clinical environment. I wanted to create a tranquil, sombre mood with a space less feel. Printed (white mount, white frame), I feel that I achieved my aim but I would appreciate any feedback.

Nice image, would increase the contrast just a touch as I can just see the horizon on the left hand side of the image. Would have shot it with a smaller aperture and slightly longer exposure as well to get rid of any detail in the water.
Nice composition though.

I really like this image and you have achieved what you set out to capture. However, I feel that your logo is too prominent and distracts somewhat from your image...just my opinion!

Hi Valveman, I just use the watermark for web use to protect the image. Should I make it smaller or remove it completely? What are the views on using watermarks?

The choice is yours.
Some people hate them, others don't mind.
They offer a very limited amount of protection, most people here could remove yours, for example, in seconds but it might put off an opportunist.

What matters here for me is the total lack of visible horizon - water melts into sky.
I don't like watermarks but appreciate why they are used. But given that it could easily be cloned out here it seems counter-productive on balance.

It will work for the intended purpose, and I assume, hopefully the large logo will appear in a border area. You should look up invisible logo techniques, - ones only you can detect.

Great composition, and most of all subject matter and a way the composition has a nice old fashion feel to it, for me the best I have seen for a long time.
Has for the Water Mark I have no problem either way.
Mike.

A very fine simple image. I would not change anything but the logo. I do understand why people use them but it is pointless in this critique section on such small images and I could clone this off in seconds, so it serves no purpose. It does pull the eye, especially on such a delicate image.

To stop people stealing work, watermarks need to be across detail or embedded in the file invisibly.

I added a gradient to the sky on the mods and changed the composition and formats. The mods are only possibilities from your very good photo. I also removed the watermark. I think they are totally acceptable though as I have had photos stolen. If a person removes them then they know they're stealing and deserve to be sued for breach of copyright.

Alan.

Paintman, I like what you have done with the subtle gradient. It creates a nice balance. Thank you Grin
