As an IR photo, the sky looks very stark and surprising.

I thought so! Gives it that old Kodak silvertone feel. One of many choices other than sepia. Has a magic look. Image for a children's story book. TG

Wow thought we were back a few winters ago when we had that wonderful snow and frost.
Was this taken with infra red filter or done in Photoshop - either way most impressive.

This was genuine infrared. I got my old SLR converted . It is equivalent to using a Hoya R72 filter
