Another pool rescue………….
This strange looking critter is a trogulus tricarinatus, and is in the harvestman family.
Its body is flat, and looks as though it has been made of mud! This acts as a camouflage to predators, as the trogulus is a soil-dwelling critter. It moves very slowly, and when disturbed, ‘freezes’, looking to all intents and purposes as though it is deceased.
I had to lift this little chappie onto a stick, totally rigid, and then wait for about 10 minutes before he decided to flex his legs and look a little more normal!

a very interesting pair. no2 looked actually like a quite clumsy uncontrolled balance act, till I saw that his legs were sorta locked around the twig. Like a dead one, but sideways.
It certainly needs an expert eye to spot one and take such an excellent shot of a 'muddy shield bug with spider legs'

Very well captured Carol. Cold enough here this morning that his limbs wouldn't unfreeze Sad.
Haven't been out to inspect the wind damage yet, but undoubtedly there will be some as ferocious winds yesterday.
