many thanks for all your kind votes and comments for the humble oak flowe.

Here is something I never do... well it is a try.
After a dull week and lots of stress I kept coming back to those two tulips and I was quite happy with them but sick of seeing our 'lawn' in the background, bokeh or not. I know it's there.
So I decided to play around with topaz and some brushes.

If you don't like it, let me know... it is well beyond the tweaking I feel comfortable at.

Annette, I like it. Very creative background. Nice processing -- great light on the flowers.

The tulips show up so very nicely against that "whatever you have done to it b/g", Annette......suits these flowers beautifully. Very nicely done.

It gives it a real arty feel.So whatever you did with those brushes and Topaz has worked out well.it's fun experimenting and sometimes it works and sometimes not. This has been really effective.Well done.

IMO the tweaking works with this image.. Not overdone, and compliments the flowers. I have not had the courage to attempt any texturing yet!

I must admit, Annette, that I'm not a fan of the background. It's too rough and splotchy and distracty for me.

In my opinion, two things could be done here. Highlights toned down in the petals plus a smoothing or blurring of the background.

Bear in mind that that's just me...and I seem to be in the minority of one here Wink

Well done for trying something different, Annette. De-saturate the bg a tad and it would be even better as then the flowers stand out even more. The blue colour is complementary to the flowers, and works well.
Jolly good stuff, old girl.Wink

I love the tulips, but I do think the background is a bit 'bold'. Maybe if you took the colour out of it a bit it may sit better for me. Looking at it again, I find it a bit distracting...
