This is photo of the Firth of Lorne (Scotland west coast) right after sunset.. I wanted to capture the special low light conditions, but I found out that with digital cameras is very difficult! ![]()
I loved taking pictures at this time of the day with films such as kodak portra 160 VC or kodak ultra color 100, the colors were just incredible with those over-saturated blues and magentas and I didn't have to worry about white balance, just metering right and that was it!
So when I saw my dull raw photos from that session I was extremely disappointed!! I didn't even know where to start during the processing/editing stage, couldn't even get a white balance that works!
I ended up spending the last couples of days working in Lightroom on 4/5 pictures, but it finally paid off when I discovered this amazing split-toning tool! ![]()
So here it is my first split toning image!!! ![]()

Not sure I've used 'split-toning' but if it produces images like this I shall have to investigate further. The colour on this is superb with some excellent receding planes. A very good image Myriam.
Thank you Dave! ![]()
I had never used it before either, but in this case I tried all of the other tools in Lightroom and none worked for me.. So I applied split toning and the result was amazing.. it came very close to what I had in mind when I was taking those pictures ![]()
