After fixing Vintage Red's laptop last night, we decided to have a RAW challenge, I wanted to see what he does with his shots and he wanted to see what I do. So I dug through my archives and found this shot which I thought would be suitably challenging.
I did my usual bracketed exposure with different layers, Nick did his thing with selective colour.
When we saw the final results I think it is fair to say he liked some of what I acheived and I liked the colour that he acheived. We both agreed that the shot needed cropping so we did that.
Unfortunately, my first effort is now sitting on Nick's laptop, alongside his, so this is a hybrid. I used a lot of his technique and mine to produce an image I am now happy with.
So, Nick, when you get back from Padley, upload your version and my original as a mod and let's see how they all look!
Thanks for looking, all comments welcome.

It's very eye-catching; and I love the colours in those flowers.
Terry.
Beautiful scene Jon, like this ALOT!

And a very happy New Year to you.
beautiful image
- apart from the great composition and reflections I also find the amount of detail impressive
You've managed to achieve a wide range of tones Jon and the overall result looks good. There's a calmness to the shot, which fits well with what you've done, no great contrast levels to upset the balance. Nice work.

Like so much this image.
Lovely composition.
I like the diferent water effect.

Looking forward to seeing Nicks version. Its great going photographing with someone, I have a friend (brm) who is a graphic designer and he 'sees' differently to me. Processing the same file is the next step I suppose. Its amazing how, even at EPZ meets, we still all get such different images.

I revisited this shot taken on a summer evening in Bayeux with my son Jacob (Redlion). His view can be seen here
It was taken on a compact and I'm too mean to get him EPZ membership! But I do like the composition he's got.
Enjoyed the exercise Jon. Have uploaded my modest effort and your original approach as mods.
Nick
A superb low light image Jon, love the composition and the reflections, it looks an idyllic setting
