I managed a brief climb up to Captain Cook's monument yesterday, as the sky transformed into the best sunset I've seen for quite a while. Before I got to the monument I saw these two trees near a broken stone wall. I really tried to frame the sunset in the arch between the trees, but I guess that would have been too contrived anyway. I think the frost and sun on the stones make the shot. There are a couple of variations to look at, and I'll probably post a couple of shots looking out over the view from the edge later, but these were the most striking shots I got.
Thanks for looking, and for c&c's on my pic of Josh the other day.

All three versions are stunning but V3 is better composed/framed IMHO.

Versions 1 and 3 for me. Great images.

3,2,1 for me Leigh, but all three are wonderful shots. What's that shiny thing in the sky?

Graham

Thanks everyone. It was so exciting to see, Graham, I forgot I wasn't supposed to point the camera at it!

The trees make a very strong, striking silhouette - the third version seems to combine the best elements of the other two to me.

GOOD SHOT. Well done with the sun, Lol, think I like No3 best, but all three are good captures of that elusive thing called the sun, well done Leigh.
