I am unsure of todays Nutty upload for the background! a bit messy I tried to blur it more using the sponge tool and various other methods but think I got lost in the process and I am useless at layers I am uploading a variant see what you think, the actual nutty I like its just the wretched b/g - many thanks for all c/c's on yesterdays upload I am very grateful for your time.
Image taken in raw and processed using the custom setting which warmed it up, I also tried in 1 variant NX2 for editing

you are becoming too technical for me
V3 gets my click today
It definately has to be V1 here Ann for me. The detail is superb and classic pose. The added bonus of the moss on that perch gives it more life and the bg is great but just a little noise but thats hardly noticeable. One of your best with natural colours. V2 the colours are not natural.
I'd be interested to know what aperture V1 was shot at.
I'll try a MOD for you
Great Nutty

aperture f6.3 cos one time you said the tail was oof using f5.6 thanks for comment Richard
Thanks Ann. I love that background. When Ron and I set it all up we had the low perches for that very reason to use the leaf litter as a background and give those pinky hues and broken pattern. You captured it just as it should have been. Forgot to say V3 the colours are wrong as well. V1 all the way the best
I would like this in my pf
For me Ann the backroud is great - it doesn't take anything away from your subject in ythat it isn't competing for attention within the image. Very nicely done.

Cracking image Anne, the bird stands out well against the background.
I have tried blurring backgrounds and to be honest have given up on it for now.
I remember you mentioned the Sponge tool on my upload yesterday - I think you've used it well.
I used to paint a lot with watercolours (no time now that I'm retired!
) and I remember that I would often use tissue paper to mop up excess wet paint in order to soften, lighten the effect. I use the Sponge in the same way.

A very lovely capture, Ann - has to be V1 for me with the 'warmer' colours.

Lovely shot Ann and think that you've done a much better job with the background in #1 than in #2 with a more consistent feel to it and no obvious repeating patterns.
(would recommend learning layers and masks for this sort of task though - even if you just work on a duplicate of your image, the mask will always let you restore regions back to the orginal if your sponge brush strays too far)

V1 is the best by far. If you had a neutral clean bg i agree it would of make the Nutty stand out alot more. But as the Nutty goes its very good
A terrific shot of this nuthatch Ann, v1 is the clear winner.
V1 for me Ann, a superb shot. Seems you are really getting to grips with your shots of late, can't believe how much you have improved, well done,
Geoff.
