Steam was only one reason for visiting Pickering and Yorkshire. The emotive power is so photogenic.
Here on a rain lashed morning the first train of the day attempts Goathland bank. ( it was reversing at this moment !!!)

Such a beauty. Like the composition with the rails in the fg. But... what would you have done if it changed the rails??? Smile

A great image.
Thinking a tighter crop would help
still a magic image..
Dave

Great photo....I think a tighter crop would lose the rails in the foreground which I think add to the effect. Sue

I don't think a tighter crop would improve an already superb image Ron.

Ken

Although it might have been reversing when you took the shot I think your compostion is perfect leaving us to imagine the train coming into to image and past us leaving that wonderful smell of steam trains that I remember so well.

Love the hanging dampness of this Ron, a real Yorkshire day Smile

I think I can, I think I can... marvellous image Ron, shows the struggle with the hill and weather to perfection. The speed restriction looks a bit superfluous on this bit of track.
