Taken from a bridge on Highway DT 768 about 45 miles (73km) North of Ho Chi Minh City. Tri An Reservoir (Ho Tri An) is a huge artificial lake in the province of Dong Nai.

La Nga is a floating village. The inhabitants make a living from aquaculture or rather are trying to make a living. For quite a few years aquatic breeding is facing difficulties. There are many reasons for this state of affairs: weather conditions (less predictable rainfall and more intense weather systems), diseases killing fish because of polluted water coming from a nearby sugar factory.

On top of that, the price of the food for the fish keeps on increasing but the the breeders can only sell their fish at a low price.

Letís hope that the men in the photos got a good catch on the day I was photographing them.

I do see a difference in the country between the war torn South and apart from Hanoi, the unscathed North
