Well this was the most tricky for me as I couldn't find a definitive Violet. I consulted some peeps on the forum and it seems that violet can be anything from deep purple to pale lavender. Anyway, in the end, thanks to Messrs Lee and Rosco I photographed some gels, put in the colour coordinates as indicated in PS and came up with this. It certainly kept me occupied for a couple of hours yesterday.

If I'd known violet was going to be so tricky I'd have changed the hue of my Blue image as it's very similar. The colours at this end of the spectrum do not seem to be as well defined as the others. Never mind.

Thank you for looking. This concludes my Spectrum series.

excellent work, again

wondering if our sensors are sensitive to violet, or if they "guess" it?
think I read something about this before...

This is something a bit different, which has worked very well - I love the arrangement of the overlapping rectangles - all those resultant shapes and shades.

Well, that's the whole spectrum, Chris. How about the complimentaries? There are still magenta and cyan.

Nicely done, and it's a really great abstract - although to be perfectly honest it looks blue to me !

This was an interesting challenge to set yourself and one that was well worth doing.
I have been considering starting a Colour of the Week challenge in the Forums - much like the Alphabet in Black and White one which is currently running but I just do not have the time to do it at present - perhaps someone else will give it a go, it could be interesting to see what interpretation people give to a set colour each week.

Yes, it's a moot point. I went on figures gleaned from a colour standard in the end but it may look different on different screens. Or it might just be plain wrong. As I found out, there's no specific Violet. I should have just photographed a flower. Smile
