This is a great picture with a great pose and good exposure but I think the grass in front of the face is a distraction, I know its difficult with an active pet but a little grass trimming may have helped.

Youve got a lot of terrific shots of this dog Elke.

Theres not a lot different anyone could do with this one other than take the shot without the grass in front of the face, - but unless you pose the dog its not possible!

In post processing, - you can remove some of the grass in front of the face, but its tricky.

Youve done well to focus on the dog in the middle of the grass though.

In the mod Ive removed a bit of grass, - and increased contract a little, reduced the yellow tone - other than that its a fine shot.

Hope this is helpful,

Regards

Willie

Great picture of a lovely dog nice lighting and color but it's just those stems of grass in front of the dog which I find distracting. I know how hard it is to take pictures of dogs, I can take hundreds of mine leaping around but sitting still and posing, no chance.
Not the best at cloning but have removed some of the grass which was in front of the dogs face.

I would not change a thing. The whole point about this photo is the grass in front of the dogs face. Ok, so I'll concede that the one stalk in front of the left eye is a teeny bit intrusive - with hindsight a fraction to the right and it wouldn't have crossed the eye itself... but seeing as that you got it like this, I would NOT clone out the grass in front of his face.

Clouds a teeny bit magenta. The colour balance seems a tad off but I'm rubbish at those sorts of things so I'll leave it to the previous commenters.

Nice image, I agree about the grass in front but I would have cropped more as per my mod. It has moved the dog from a central position to one that conforms to the rule of thirds.

Hope this helps

Dave

Thank you very much for all your comments. They are very useful. I agree about the one blade of grass in front of the eye. That's distracting. I also agree about the new positioning done by Dave. Just a simple move, but it looks much better. Thank you very much. I think I will use this critique function more often. At last I get useful comments on how to improve my photography. Thanks again.
