Another shot from Wednesday morning - three four-spotted chasers (Libellula quadrimaculata) warming up in the early morning sun. This group were nicely positioned to show off all angles but were quite a challenge to establish the focal plane to keep them all crisp. 20 minutes later and they were all airborne!
Amazing to think that there must have been similar scenes to this, 300 million years ago; the only difference being that the dragonflies would have had 30cm wing spans, no photographers and no mosquitoes!

Wouldn't have needed macro lenses for those big un's mate........Wife managed a shot the other day down at Ham Wall of 9 all sat on a clump of cut reeds, I've had to process it as a panoramic image just to get them all in. I've no doubt she'll post it when she's that way inclined. She's too busy showing of her cuckoo's at the moment
Good capture, but the flash makes it look a little un-natural, couldn't be helped though......Well done.
