Finally managed to photograph one of these with wings spead etc. They appear every now and then but they generally manage to escape before I can get near them. Late in the season and quite a battered-looking individual but I'm really pleased to have got this!

A fine shot of one of the most difficult to photograph butterflies, the detail and colours have been superbly recorded. This specimen looks in fairly good nick too. I hardly saw any of these at all this yearSad
