Warming up !!!

The first Bee-fly to appear in the garden this year.................the proboscis is rigid.

Spotted this one warming itself up on a paving stone at the weekend. Got this shot with wings resting - it was having a high speed flap most of the time.Smile and the wings were a blur.

Thanks for stopping by.

Wow! What a stunning capture of this frustrating little critter (as you say, the wretched things are never still!!). I love the details you've captured and the background is absolutely perfect!!

They always look such fearsome creatures, you've captured it superbly too. My only gripe is the fact I haven't seen one as yet this year Sad

Fantastic detail and clarity in this close up Brian, this is as good a macro as i've seen in an age. I thought the toys would bee flying out of the pram when KarenFB saw this one, she's been trying to no avail all today to snap a bee fly!WinkGrinTongue

I love bee-flies, they are always the first around. their furry coat and the proboscis shows so well in your picture.
